Daiso? I think so.
It has been a while since I’ve added any spots to check out in NYC, so here’s one to add to the list: Daiso.
Daiso is often called “the Japanese dollar store” and has 2,800 stores in Japan and over 4,000 stores worldwide. Their first ever East Coast store had their grand opening last Friday, March 8, 2019. It is located in Flushing’s Skyview Center (40-24 College Point Boulevard, 2nd floor).
Apparently Daiso gave out goodie bags for the first 100 customers on Friday, March 8th and Saturday, March 9th. I was just reading an article about the opening here, which mentions that there were thousands who waited in line on March 8th. Two folks waited since 5:30 a.m., before the mall even opened!
I stopped by on Sunday, March 10th after dinner. There was a line and the guards started shuffling people out.
My sister and my friend went to check it out yesterday afternoon. There was a line, but nothing unbearable. We waited probably five minutes.
When we were at the entrance in front of the line, we were thanked for waiting and given a shopping basket. The adventure in exploring Daiso began!
Everything is $1.99 by the way, unless otherwise stated.
So if you’re looking for something to do, stop by Flushing for some good grub and check out Skyview Center. There are other stores like Marshalls, Target, Michael’s, Bed Bath & Beyond, Uniqlo, Forever21, Nordstrom Rack, Nike Clearance, Old Navy, Adidas Outlet, Chuck E Cheeses, Converse, Gong Cha, Coco, Famous Footwear, Best Buy, and many more.
