Searching for places to try has become a grand hobby of mine. A week ago, my best friend Jen who recently finished nursing school told me she was back and asked when I was free. I took a vacation day a few days ago (everyone at work have been pushing me to take all my days) to spend a day with Jen. Looking at all the great reviews on, I wanted to give it a try. Since we are both trying to eat healthier, I thought a vegan/vegetarian sushi place would be perfect. And it was. I loved this place. It was a bit crowded when we first arrived but the service was quick. We looked at the menu and the guy at the register was super attentive. He took our orders and asked us for our names. (They called our names and walked to us with our food.)
We ordered a lunch special each (you can select a sushi roll and a noodle salad or dumplings). Spicy Mang and Green Root Noodle Salad for her and Mighty Mushroom and The Badge for me. It was incredible. I loved the mushroom roll a lot! You know the economics concept of diminishing marginal utility, where with every increased unit of consumption, the overall satisfaction begins to decline? Well, that wasn’t the case here. One bite after another, it was scrumptious and just as good. The Spicy Mang was great, too! Perfect balance of sweet and spice. The dumplings were tasty and savory. The Green Root was also yummy, though I’m not used to my seaweed salad being anything but cold…no complaints nonetheless. We were very content.
The service was top-notch. We were asked if everything was okay several times. We were also offered a small cup of water by a kind lady because it was so hot out (nearly 90 degrees that day). Since it was crowded when we got there, we had to settle for the two seats by the windows of Beyond Sushi and were basically sitting ads of the restaurant. The chairs were angled weirdly and we hit our legs a few times before we got it right. Every single person that passed by looked at us and our sushi, dumplings, and noodle salad, especially when we were feeding our cameras before ourselves. I think it’s a wonderful spot for lunch. I recommend it and definitely see myself visiting again. I’ve been having so many food adventures lately! It’s both exciting and taxing on my wallet, but hey, a girl has got to eat.
